  • Adult Golf- Instruction for beginners

    There are many great reasons to take up golf. Walking miles and burning hundreds of calories on a beautifully landscaped golf course is a great way to stay in shape. Golf is a great way to meet people, to spend quality time with family and friends, and build professional relationships. We will provide all the tools you need. Included in the total fee is access to the driving range, putting/chipping green, range balls and rental clubs! Our adult golf program has been designed to create a low-pressured environment so you can enjoy your first golfing experience. Key concepts include grip, stance, alignment, scoring, etiquette and important safety rules on the golf course. Inclement weather cancels lessons. Make-up dates will be communicated.
  • Adult Private Swimming Lessons

    Individual and small group lessons to help adults learn to swim or refine their skills. Sessions are 45 minutes long. Aquatic programs are located at the Mankato East High School Pool. Please park in the far east parking lot, next to Thomas Park, and enter the building through Door 9, located on the northeast side of the building.
  • Adult Tennis - Hitting Drills & Games

    Adult tennis drills and games has become a worldwide, fun group activity for adults featuring tennis drills to give players of ALL abilities an ultimate, high-energy workout while improving their tennis ability. The session includes a warmup, hitting drill technique sequence, and group games/match play to end each session. This program will elevate a person’s heart rate into the aerobic zone and burn some calories too! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! The instructor will accommodate all ability levels – this includes beginners! New and previous participants will walk away with increased knowledge of the game of tennis. If you are looking for a great way to get in shape, burn some calories, meet new people, and hit live tennis balls, just give this a try already!   • An Introduction to Working with Herbs for Health

    Herbs have the ability to support us in times of need as well as to support and nourish us every day. In this class, we will discuss several common, local herbs and their benefits/uses. Herbs can be worked with in a variety of ways (teas, infusions, decoctions, tinctures, salves/oils, cooking, etc.) for daily use and for common ailments. This class is taught by Herbalist and Integrative Nutritionist, Kara Swenson.
  • Art with Soft Pastels

    Learn the art of hand tinting black and white photographs using soft pastels chalk. You will receive a black and white photo and work with soft pastels to add your own flavor and imagination to bringing the photo to life, producing a frameable work of art. The instructor will provide directions, technique hints, and advice to students to complete their project.
  • Bob Ross Oil Painting Class

    Denny Neidt is a certified member of the BOB ROSS National Team of certified instructors. He is a Waseca, MN resident. Being retired, he has more time to spend on painting and painting classes. He enjoys sharing his talents and the techniques he has learned with all his painting students. You may say “I couldn’t paint the side of a barn.” Well, Denny can show you how and he’ll show how to do it with a pallet KNIFE! What is the Ross “wet-on-wet” technique? It’s the application of wet paint on top of wet paint, omitting the traditional wait for each layer to dry. Using special firm oil paints and starting with a wet based canvas, paint may be glided across the canvas with large brushes and palette knives–making clouds, mountains, trees, and water appear in seconds….AND IT’S SO EASY! Course fee covers all necessary supplies. Come as you are in comfortable clothing that inspires your creativity. Bring your own snacks and beverages.

You also have access to our potter’s wheels, slab roller, extruder, glazes, greenware storage, tools and electric kilns. When your clay supply is gone, you can purchase a new block of clay. The studio has a designated area where artists can store their unused clay supply. Glaze and firing are included with the clay cost. The studio, managed by Mankato Community Education Leisure + Enrichment Program keeps in inventory high quality supplies and equipment for artist use. The studio and CE cannot be held responsible for work that in the process of drying or firing is damaged or broken. The studio will be closed on days / evenings when Mankato Area Public School closes due to weather related closures.

    Como Zoo + Conservatory Trip

    Join us at the Como Zoo and Conservatory for a fun and educational day! Exotic animals and gorgeous gardens await you. Participants on this trip will be roaming the Como Park property independently. If you would like to plan your route ahead of time follow this link! Lunch will be on your own at the zoo's many cafes and lunch spots for purchase throughout the park. We have budgeted 3 hours at Como Zoo, so our guests can explore exhibits and take in shows at a leisurely pace. Registration Deadline is May 31! Arrive at Wow Zone parking lot in Mankato around 8:15 to leave at 8:30 am, or arrive atat the parking lot of St. Peter Community Center in St. Peter by 8:45 am, stop at Holiday station in Shakopee for restroom break, leave Zoo around 1:30, end of day return to Mankato around 4 pm. (arrival time is estimated) Cost of lunch is on your own.

    Join us for two evenings of making clay vessels and craft mocktails for two! We will make a set of 6 mugs or cups per couple. This class will help you design, assemble, and glaze a matching set.   • Edible + Medicinal Plant Walk

    Plant walks are a great opportunity to become more connected with the plants all around you. These walks are interactive as we explore the plants to get to know them better through sight, touch, smell and taste. You will leave knowing visual identification as well as how to work with the plant and their benefits! This class will be hands-on (and in nature) with the plants themselves. No experience is necessary for this course, all knowledge levels are welcome! This walk will be held at Rasmussen Woods (555 Stoltzman Rd, Mankato, MN 56001). Rain day is set for July 23. We will notify you if course is moved due to weather. Classes are taught by Herbalist and Integrative Nutritionist, Kara Swenson of Thistle Patch Wellness.
  • Hand Building Ceramics

    Make a variety of objects from a lump of clay into something that you can utilize or give as a gift! Each class meets twice, once to shape the clay, once to glaze. You will be notified when your finished piece comes out of the kiln!
  • Leather Stamping - Bracelets

    This course introduces students to the joy of working with leather. Leather stamping dies are used to put designs, letters and pictures on leather items. Tools and supplies are provided and the students take home practice pieces, a picture, and a bracelet that can be further decorated with markers or paint once the item dries.

    Take me out to the ball game! Come enjoy an afternoon of outdoor baseball by joining us for a trip to Target Field to watch the Minnesota Twins play Kansas City! The game starts at 12:10 pm. Departures - 9:30 am depart WOW Zone parking lot, 9:45 am depart St. Peter Community Center. Arrivals - 6:45 pm arrive at St. Peter Community Center, 7:00 pm arrive at WOW Zone parking lot. Return time is approximate, based on the length of game. Seating in section 223. Registration Deadline is May 1!

  • Mankato’s Who’s Who?

    It is Spring in Mankato and a good time to walk on the lush grass of Glenwood Cemetery and view the beautifully decorated stones of Mankato’s beloved. Join local Historian, Bryce Stenzel for a guided tour of several historical monuments, representing heroes of the Civil War, Betsy Tacy Society, local business leaders and many more. The tour will last 90 minutes and be filled with lively storytelling that brings Mankato’s past into the present. This is definitely a tour for the history lover. Plan to arrive at Glenwood Cemetery at 8:45 for check-in and instructions. Tour begins at 9:00 am and ends at 10:30 am. Wear comfortable shoes for walking. Dress for the outdoors including bug spray. There are no restroom facilities on the cemetery grounds.

    Ages 18 and Up, Under 18 must be accompanied by adult Payment options - $40 monthly (Automatic payment on the 1st of each month of the session) $5 drop-in fee (Processed at the pool. Cash, credit, or check). Card payments can be saved to make future drop-in payments without a physical card. Designed swim workouts, not swimming lessons. Lanes are divided by ability, and workouts are scaled to each lane. Ability is determined by 100 yd pace.     Tractors, corn dogs, cows, seed art, vendors, and more.....What’s your favorite part of the fair? Join us for a fun filled day at the Minnesota Fair. Don’t worry about parking or traffic. Our coach bus will drop you off at the fair entrance. It’s guaranteed to be a full day, so wear your comfortable walking shoes! Enjoy the stimulation of music as well as the health and emotional benefits of being as active as your body will allow. We will also learn to stretch our bodies, breathe, and take a moment to take care of our bodies and ourselves.

    Purchase a punch card and clay coupon (each sold separately) to use the Pottery Studio facilities and supplies. We have expanded our open hours! Now the Lincoln Community Center Pottery Studio is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. The Studio Use Purchase is $40 and allows you 8 visits (or 24 hours) of studio time! That is $1.66 an hour, what can you do outside of the home, other than enjoy nature, for that low of a cost? Our pottery lab is equipped with potter's wheels, slab roller, extruder, glazes, greenware storage, and newer electric kilns. This is not an instructional class. Artists should be able to use the studio and equipment independently, but a studio supervisor will be present for technical questions. The studio, managed by Mankato Community Education Leisure + Enrichment Program, keeps in inventory high quality supplies and equipment for artist use. The studio and CE cannot be held responsible for work that in the process of drying or firing is damaged or broken. The studio will be closed on days / evenings when Mankato Area Public School closes due to weather related closures. In our studio, you pay based on use. We only allow clay sold by our studio. We know the products we use / sell to students are safe for our kilns and will produce a good quality product.

An 8- Punch Pottery Studio Use Card - $40 gives students access to 8 open studio sessions. Each day you come is 1 use. We are not a membership organization. You pay for 8 visits to our studio, before purchasing a new (studio use) card. Our potter studio has potter’s wheels, slab roller, extruder, hand tools, glazes, greenware storage, updated electric kilns and more. This is not an instructional class. Previous pottery experience is required. The studio manager will be present to help with technical questions. The studio, managed by Mankato Community Education Leisure + Enrichment Program keeps in inventory high quality supplies and equipment for artist use. The studio and CE cannot be held responsible for work that in the process of drying or firing is damaged or broken. The studio will be closed on days / evenings when Mankato Area Public School closes due to weather related closures. The Clay, Glaze & Firing Supply - $25 is sold separately and covers the consumable supplies of clay, various glazes and firing your projects. In our studio, you pay based on use.     Join us for a Sightseeing Cruise along the Mississippi Narrated, 90 minute public excursions depart from Harriet Island in St. Paul. Sights along the way include: the St. Paul High Bridge, Pig’s Eye Cave, the Minnesota River mouth, Pike Island, and the timeless splendor of the mighty Mississippi River. All Sightseeing Cruises offer a fully stocked bar and limited snacks available for purchase onboard (please no outside food or beverage). Lunch is included. This is called a picnic cruise. This meal is plated and brought out to the tables. In this class you'll discover: How to optimize your comfort throughout your pregnancy Strategies to relieve common pregnancy-related pain Pregnancy-safe exercises to support your body Labor preparation skills Bring a yoga mat or beach towel and dress to be active. After class, Janelle will be available to answer questions and provide individual assessments.

    Dandelions, goldenrod, motherwort, mullein… If you’ve ever wondered if those common plants or “weeds” have a deeper use or purpose, they do and this class is for you! Within this class, you will begin to learn how to identify many of the common plants as well as learn their benefits. This class will be hands-on (and in nature) with the plants themselves. No experience is necessary for this course, all knowledge levels are welcome! This walk will be held at Williams Nature Center (54988 MN-68, Mankato, MN 56001). Rain date is set for June 19.
