Youth / Middle School After School / Middle School After School DMMS -
Middle School After School 23-24

Intro to Music: Voice, Ukulele, and Guitar.

Students will have 2-3 lessons on each: Voice, Ukulele, and Guitar

Instruments provided for use while in club.

MSAS offers a fun environment where students can gather after regular school hours to socialize and make new friends. Unlike skill-focused or competitive classes, the emphasis here is on creating a safe and welcoming space for students to unwind and connect. Our staff includes club leaders who share their passion and skills in a mentoring setting, and site supervisors who support club leaders, provide students a daily snack, and organize alternative programming when needed, such as games and art supplies. Each club meets after regular school hours, once a week. Parents will be informed of any schedule changes via text or email.

During this school year, MSAS will be available for students in grades 6-8 at Prairie Winds and Dakota Meadows Middle Schools on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons from 3:25 to 5:00 pm, with no activities on Wednesday or Friday. Students must be picked up immediately at 5 pm, if students are allowed to walk home, staff must know ahead of time. Students should attend on the days their clubs meet, however they can also attend on other days for "Student Union" time, where they can do homework, play games, or hang out with friends. Only school approved games and content are allowed during MSAS. Students must be registered for at least one club to use the Student Union. Registration is through Community Education, not the middle school. Financial aid is available through Greater Mankato Area United Way Connecting Kids. www.connectingkidsmankato.org After school, students should go directly to the cafeteria with all their belongings. They'll receive a snack, and have time to talk with peers or do homework until clubs start at 3:45 pm. Parents must arrange transportation for pick-up at 5:00 pm.

Students are expected to follow all school rules and guidelines. Refunds for club registrations are only available if requested at least four business days before the club starts. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify. For more information or to apply for financial assistance, contact Jennifer Stratton at Connecting Kids. You must complete the Application For Educational Benefits before applying for a scholarship.
