  • Introduction To Quilting - Disappearing 9 Patch Quilt

    Are you interested in learning basic quilting skills? In this 4 session class you will learn basic quilting techniques to take you on a journey to creating your own cozy masterpiece. Our goal is a “Disappearing 9 Patch Quilt.” The end product will be a mini quilt that is a 2 X 2 foot square. We will meet 4 times to learn this basic quilting technique. As part of a small group, you will be guided through the process by an experienced quilter who has been taught this sewing technique by his own grandmother. - NO CLASS ON DECEMBER 10

    DANCE CLASSES RETURNING TO LINCOLN COMMUNITY CENTER Dance is more popular than ever! Due to a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, Mankato Community Education is able to bring the joy and exercise of dance to YOU! Because of our grant opportunity, you have the opportunity to try something new under low cost, low time commitment circumstances. Sign up with a partner or come solo! if you do not have a partner, one will be assigned to you. INSTRUCTORS Brian & Lynette Dawley Our teachers have been dancing and competing together for over 16 years. They have taken over 2,000 hours of private coaching from some of the top Ballroom instructors in the United States as well as Canada, the United Kingdom and Argentina. SO MANY DANCES TO CHOOSE FROM! SIGN UP FOR ONE OR TRY THEM ALL! Wednesdays 11/6 – 11/20 (3 sessions) Line Dance 6:40-7:30 pm Get moving to a variety of popular music! You will learn basic, beginner line dances to Country and pop songs. This is great exercise and you don’t need a partner! 50’s Swing 7:40-8:30 pm Let’s go back to the 50’s and learn some of those signature patterns in single count swing. We will start with the basic and work our way up. This is a great dance for Big Band or music from the 50’s. So dust off your saddle shoes and rock around the clock with us! Wednesdays. 12/4 – 12/18 (3 sessions) Beginning West Coast Swing 6:40 - 7:30 pm This is a smooth style of swing danced to a wide variety of music including country, R&B, pop, blues, hip hop and even contemporary! This class will focus on the basic six count patterns. Six steps per pattern, that’s it! Couples and singles welcome. Beginning Salsa 7:40-8:30 pm Spice up your night with a little salsa! The patterns are easy, the footwork is simple and the music is energetic. This is a perfect dance for cruises and clubs. Couples and singles welcome. Wednesdays 1/8/25 – 2/5/25 (5 sessions) Beginning Country Two Step 6:40 - 7:30 pm This five-week class will focus on the basic steps of Country Two Step. You will learn basic patterns and a few turns. We will also introduce you to the concepts of lead, follow and frame. At the end of class, you will have the confidence to dance around the floor! Couples and singles welcome. Latin Dance Sampler 7:40-8:30 pm Join us for Latin Night! We will learn fun, flirty patterns in cha cha danced to upbeat Latin music that will get your heart pumping. Then we will slow it down with Rumba, “The Dance of Love”, as we learn softer patterns danced to romantic ballads. Couples and singles welcome. All classes are held at Lincoln Community Center, (110 Fulton Street) in Mankato, MN.
