Social Studies Spectacular Competition

Youth / Classes / Academic -
Winter/Spring 2026

Do you love Social Studies? What if you could compete in an actual tournament alongside other kids who love Social Studies and topics that include, but not limited to: state/country geography, bodies of water, government/civics, maps, weather, habitats/species/migration, flags, economics, famous people, and more!? “ The Social Studies Spectacular Tournament” gives you that opportunity. If you love the thrill of a contest format or just love learning, this opportunity is for you. South Central Service Cooperative hosts this annual tournament for youth around the region on Thursday, May 14. 2026 at the South Central Service Cooperative Conference Center (on Lookout Drive) in upper North Mankato.

Mankato Community Education is offering an opportunity for youth who want to compete (as a team), but are not already on a team sponsored by your school. Sign up, form teams, practice and then compete! It is really that easy.

Saturday practice sessions at Lincoln Community Center will prepare you for the experience and help you bond as team members

On Thursday, May 14 all team members will gather at South Central Service Cooperative for the contest

Transportation is not included with the fee. Parents or guardians transport to and from the contest. An awards ceremony for all will follow the contest at about 12:00 noon on May 14.
