  • Adult Golf- Instruction for beginners

    There are many great reasons to take up golf. Walking miles and burning hundreds of calories on a beautifully landscaped golf course is a great way to stay in shape. Golf is a great way to meet people, to spend quality time with family and friends, and build professional relationships. We will provide all the tools you need. Included in the total fee is access to the driving range, putting/chipping green, range balls and rental clubs! Our adult golf program has been designed to create a low-pressured environment so you can enjoy your first golfing experience. Key concepts include grip, stance, alignment, scoring, etiquette and important safety rules on the golf course. Inclement weather cancels lessons. Make-up dates will be communicated.

    Whether you're a seasoned player or a beginner, our league offers a perfect opportunity for fun, fitness, and friendly competition. CoRec Volleyball League The CoRec League is designed for mixed-gender teams and is divided into four divisions, accommodating all skill levels and competitive natures: Division 1: The division for highly skilled players seeking serious competition. Games are fast-paced and challenging, showcasing advanced techniques and teamwork. Division 2: This division suits intermediate players who enjoy competitive play but with a slightly less intense environment than Division 1. It's perfect for those who have a good grasp of volleyball fundamentals. Division 3: Aimed at recreational players with some experience, this division offers a friendly, moderately competitive environment. It's great for those looking to enjoy the game and improve their skills. Division 4: The most relaxed and beginner-friendly division. It's all about having fun, learning the game, and enjoying the social aspects of volleyball with minimal competitive pressure. Division Team Limits Division 1 (CR1): Limited to 6 teams Division 2 (CR2): Limited to 10 teams Division 3 (CR3): Limited to 10 teams Division 4 (CR4): Limited to 10 teams Please note that there will be no waitlist for any division, so we encourage teams to register as soon as possible to secure their spot. Team rosters are not due at the time of registration. Once team registration has closed, you will receive communication from the Enrichment + Leisure Department. This communication will include a link where you can conveniently submit your team roster at a later date. This allows you more time to finalize your team members and ensure all information is accurate. These team limits ensure we can provide the best possible experience for all participants, with adequate facility access and staff support. Team Registration and Sponsorship The team fee for participating in the league is $290. Additionally, securing a business sponsor is highly recommended. The sponsor fee is $285, which helps support league operations and enhances the overall experience for all participants. Without a business sponsor, the team is responsible for the full $575. Engaging a sponsor can significantly reduce the financial burden on players and promote local businesses. Exciting Process Update for This Year! We are excited to announce a positive change to our sponsorship process this year. To make it easier for our teams and their sponsors, we will now invoice sponsors directly on behalf of the teams.   • An Introduction to Working with Herbs for Health

    Herbs have the ability to support us in times of need as well as to support and nourish us every day. In this class, we will discuss several common, local herbs and their benefits/uses. Herbs can be worked with in a variety of ways (teas, infusions, decoctions, tinctures, salves/oils, cooking, etc.) for daily use and for common ailments. This class is taught by Herbalist and Integrative Nutritionist, Kara Swenson.
  • Basics of Realistic Drawing

    This class will cover basic techniques to take a student's drawings to the next level of realism. During the two sessions students will be taught basic techniques in proportion and shading and will practice said techniques as it's being taught to give a hands-on learning experience. By the end of the course students will have their own hand drawn art and new techniques to use in their realism art!

The studio has a designated area where artists can store their unused clay supply. Glaze and firing are included with the clay cost. The studio, managed by Mankato Community Education Leisure + Enrichment Program keeps in inventory high quality supplies and equipment for artist use. The studio and CE cannot be held responsible for work that in the process of drying or firing is damaged or broken. The studio will be closed on days / evenings when Mankato Area Public School closes due to weather related closures.

    Join us for two evenings of making clay vessels and craft mocktails! This course is open to all, bring your sister, platonic friends, Mom or Dad, any group will enjoy! Each participant will make 3 mugs to bring home, you can make them match with your friends or be as unique as you are! This class will help you design, assemble, and glaze a matching set. Non-alcoholic drinks provided. If you would like to bring finger food or snack to eat while creating please do! Cost is $60/person

    Have you ever wanted a T-shirt with your very own design on it? Now’s your chance! Students will work to design their own custom T-shirt using digital graphic design tools. A professional screen printing company will turn the design into a real life T-shirt and ship it to your house! Experienced instructors will teach students how to run the software and guide them as they turn their visions into a reality! No prior experience needed! The address of the person enrolling students will be used to mail the finished T-shirt, be sure your address is up to date! This camp is presented by COR Robotics.     Mankato East and West 7-12th grade boys and girls who previously competed on their respective school teams or who are new to the district with prior competitive diving experience. Those with no prior diving experience may contact the coaches to discuss appropriateness.

    Students will learn how to fly like the pros in the Drone Racing League by training on a flight simulator. After learning drone safety and maintenance, students will take a drone to the skies and compete in numerous races and challenges. Led by experienced instructors, students will leave camp with the skills and knowledge to pilot drones and keep them running. The drones used in camps have cameras, and are perfect for entry level pilots. No prior experience needed! This camp has two cost options: $110 - Instruction and a drone to use while in camp $170 - Instruction and you can bring home your drone to own after camp is complete This camp is presented by COR Robotics.     HOME ALONE SAFETY Melanie Schmidt (Instructor) Grades 2-6 & parent (or adult guardian) 1 Session Staying home alone for the first time is an opportunity eagerly anticipated by most kids; but with opportunity comes responsibility. This course covers a variety of common scenarios and topics specific to youth preparing to stay home alone or stay home with younger siblings. Topics include, but are not limited to: sibling conflict, stranger danger, healthy choices, problem solving, and identifying emergencies. Each child is encouraged to attend with 1 adult.

  • How to Draw Anime (Basics)

    A beginners course for those interested in learning how to draw characters and animals/monsters in the style of Japanese cartoons otherwise known as anime. The course objective would be to teach basic proportions and styles that go into creating these characters so that a person may be able to replicate similar styles seen in shows like One Piece, Pokemon, Dragonball, etc... By the end of the course, participants should have enough of an understanding to be able to create their own original character in a generalized anime style!

    Dive into the captivating world of creativity and technology at our Intro to Digital Art summer camp! This immersive three-day program combines hands-on learning with engaging digital tools, offering a dynamic journey into digital art. Students will explore the fundamentals of digital drawing and apply what they learn to an exciting real world application. Through a partnership with No Grit No Pearl, students will be able to get their favorite design printed on a canvas or t-shirt which will get shipped to their house after the camp! Intro to Digital Art is the perfect blend of fun, skill development, and boundless imagination, providing young artists with the tools and confidence to bring their visions to life.   • Lancer Cadets: Marching Band Camp Grades 7 + 8

    Students enrolled in Lancer Cadets will have fun as they learn marching and music fundamentals and work toward an end-of-week performance. Participants will also be invited to perform with the Mankato 77 Lancers at a performance this fall! We have openings in percussion, woodwind, brass, and colorguard sections.
  • Learn To Lancer (Color Guard Skills For Grades K-8)

    Learn to Lancer is a NEW program for youth in grades K-8 who would like to learn the artistry of dance, movement and twirling with Color Guard Flags, Rifles and Pom Poms. Participation in this summer camp is introductory and will give youth the opportunity to learn skills that will lead to future success in the 77 Lancers Color Guard as well as our OWN performance opportunities at local events such as high school sports. This summer camp is available at a low cost due to funding from the Minnesota State Arts Board. Try this skill for just $20 for the week. An actual "Learn To Lancer" season, complete with performance opportunities and practice times twice weekly will run from November 2024-March 2025.   • Masters Swimming Program

    Ages 18 and Up, Under 18 must be accompanied by adult Payment options - $40 monthly (Automatic payment on the 1st of each month of the session) $5 drop-in fee (Processed at the pool. Cash, credit, or check). Card payments can be saved to make future drop-in payments without a physical card. Designed swim workouts, not swimming lessons. Lanes are divided by ability, and workouts are scaled to each lane. Each workout varies in distance, swim strokes, drills, and speed. Mankato Community Education and Recreation is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for participants, staff and the community we serve by following guidance from the Minnesota Departments of Health and Education.
  • Middle School After School Clubs (sign up to receive email when clubs are open to registration)

    Until the catalog is completed and ready for registrations you can sign up to receive an email to alert you when clubs are open for registration. These clubs fill up fast! We will use the email associated with your account through eleyo. Please make sure it is up to date. Middle School After School (MSAS) clubs offer a fun opportunity for your child to spend time with their peers and meet new friends. These clubs provide a low-student pressure environment where students in grades 6-8 can strengthen their social and emotional skills. Located at Prairie Winds and Dakota Meadows Middle Schools, MSAS clubs meet once a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:20 to 5:00 pm. Clubs are theme-based, ensuring a variety of engaging activities, and always under the supervision of qualified staff. Regardless of theme, the primary focus is on making new friends and enjoying time outside the classroom in a safe, supportive setting. Registration for the Fall MSAS will open in September, with the semester running from October 7 through December 12 on school days.
