  • Mankato West Volleyball Camp

    The Mankato West Volleyball program will be hosting the seventh annual Youth Volleyball Camp this summer. It is available for any female student entering into grades 4-9 for the 2024-2025 school year. This camp is a great opportunity for any student interested in learning more about the sport of volleyball. Our camp is for the first time athlete or for the more advanced athlete wanting to enhance her volleyball skills. This camp is also a great opportunity to prepare for the fall season as a West volleyball athlete. The camp will focus on teaching the fundamentals of volleyball, the meaning of teamwork, and having fun through competitive drills and new experiences. Each student-athlete will participate in stations, team drills, and competition. We will also be having guest speakers with a variety of college level volleyball experience.
  • Mankato’s Who’s Who?

    It is Spring in Mankato and a good time to walk on the lush grass of Glenwood Cemetery and view the beautifully decorated stones of Mankato’s beloved. Join local Historian, Bryce Stenzel for a guided tour of several historical monuments, representing heroes of the Civil War, Betsy Tacy Society, local business leaders and many more. The tour will last 90 minutes and be filled with lively storytelling that brings Mankato’s past into the present. This is definitely a tour for the history lover. Plan to arrive at Glenwood Cemetery at 8:45 for check-in and instructions. Tour begins at 9:00 am and ends at 10:30 am. Wear comfortable shoes for walking. Dress for the outdoors including bug spray. There are no restroom facilities on the cemetery grounds.
  • Masters Swimming Program

    Ages 18 and Up, Under 18 must be accompanied by adult Payment options - $40 monthly (Automatic payment on the 1st of each month of the session) $5 drop-in fee (Processed at the pool. Cash, credit, or check). Card payments can be saved to make future drop-in payments without a physical card. Designed swim workouts, not swimming lessons. Lanes are divided by ability, and workouts are scaled to each lane. Ability is determined by 100 yd pace. Our coach bus will drop you off at the fair entrance. It’s guaranteed to be a full day, so wear your comfortable walking shoes!   • MoonDogs Baseball Camp

    Skills and fun! Come learn with the Mankato MoonDogs coaching staff and players! Open to beginners and more experienced players. Athletes will be divided into groups according to age and skill level. All campers will receive a ticket to attend the game on the night of the 2nd day of camp. Please bring a glove and wear athletic/comfortable clothing. If student's have rubber cleats they can bring those - NO metal cleats allowed.

    Intro to Music: Voice, Ukulele, and Guitar. Students will have 2-3 lessons on each: Voice, Ukulele, and Guitar Instruments provided for use while in club. MSAS offers a fun environment where students can gather after regular school hours to socialize and make new friends. Unlike skill-focused or competitive classes, the emphasis here is on creating a safe and welcoming space for students to unwind and connect. Our staff includes club leaders who share their passion and skills in a mentoring setting, and site supervisors who support club leaders, provide students a daily snack, and organize alternative programming when needed, such as games and art supplies. Each club meets after regular school hours, once a week. Parents will be informed of any schedule changes via text or email. During this school year, MSAS will be available for students in grades 6-8 at Prairie Winds and Dakota Meadows Middle Schools on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons from 3:25 to 5:00 pm, with no activities on Wednesday or Friday. Students must be picked up immediately at 5 pm, if students are allowed to walk home, staff must know ahead of time. Students should attend on the days their clubs meet, however they can also attend on other days for "Student Union" time, where they can do homework, play games, or hang out with friends. Only school approved games and content are allowed during MSAS. Students must be registered for at least one club to use the Student Union. Registration is through Community Education, not the middle school. Financial aid is available through Greater Mankato Area United Way Connecting Kids. www.connectingkidsmankato.org After school, students should go directly to the cafeteria with all their belongings. They'll receive a snack, and have time to talk with peers or do homework until clubs start at 3:45 pm. Parents must arrange transportation for pick-up at 5:00 pm.     Let's Dance! When you hear a great song do you just want to move? Join Molly for Music & Movement where you are able to dance and experience the creativity of selecting movements based on your ability. Enjoy the stimulation of music as well as the health and emotional benefits of being as active as your body will allow. We will also learn to stretch our bodies, breathe, and take a moment to take care of our bodies and ourselves.
  • Open Pottery Studio (8 Visit Studio Use Card)

    Purchase a punch card and clay coupon (each sold separately) to use the Pottery Studio facilities and supplies. We have expanded our open hours! Now the Lincoln Community Center Pottery Studio is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. The Studio Use Purchase is $40 and allows you 8 visits (or 24 hours) of studio time! That is $1.66 an hour, what can you do outside of the home, other than enjoy nature, for that low of a cost? Our pottery lab is equipped with potter's wheels, slab roller, extruder, glazes, greenware storage, and newer electric kilns. This is not an instructional class. Artists should be able to use the studio and equipment independently, but a studio supervisor will be present for technical questions. The studio, managed by Mankato Community Education Leisure + Enrichment Program, keeps in inventory high quality supplies and equipment for artist use. The studio and CE cannot be held responsible for work that in the process of drying or firing is damaged or broken. The studio will be closed on days / evenings when Mankato Area Public School closes due to weather related closures. In our studio, you pay based on use. We only allow clay sold by our studio. We know the products we use / sell to students are safe for our kilns and will produce a good quality product.

    Join us for a Sightseeing Cruise along the Mississippi Narrated, 90 minute public excursions depart from Harriet Island in St. Paul. Sights along the way include: the St. Paul High Bridge, Pig’s Eye Cave, the Minnesota River mouth, Pike Island, and the timeless splendor of the mighty Mississippi River. All Sightseeing Cruises offer a fully stocked bar and limited snacks available for purchase onboard (please no outside food or beverage). Lunch is included. This is called a picnic cruise. This meal is plated and brought out to the tables. Menu: BBQ chicken, Pulled pork with buns, Green chili cheddar corn bread, Potato salad, Seasonal fruit, Cookies, Coffee Registration Deadline is June 15! Arrive at Wow Zone parking lot in Mankato around 8:45 to leave at 9 am, or arrive at the parking lot of St. Peter Community Center in St. Peter by 9:10 am, stop at Holiday station in Shakopee for a restroom break, end of day return to Mankato around 5:30 pm.   • Pelvic Health Considerations in Pregnancy

    Learn about your pelvic floor and the body changes that occur during pregnancy from a team of pelvic health physical therapists. Discover strategies and exercises to optimize the comfort and support of your body during this time. In this class you'll discover: How to optimize your comfort throughout your pregnancy Strategies to relieve common pregnancy-related pain Pregnancy-safe exercises to support your body Labor preparation skills Bring a yoga mat or beach towel and dress to be active. After class, Janelle will be available to answer questions and provide individual assessments.
  • Plant Walk: Medicine within Common Plants and “Weeds”

    Dandelions, goldenrod, motherwort, mullein… If you’ve ever wondered if those common plants or “weeds” have a deeper use or purpose, they do and this class is for you! Within this class, you will begin to learn how to identify many of the common plants as well as learn their benefits. This class will be hands-on (and in nature) with the plants themselves. No experience is necessary for this course, all knowledge levels are welcome! This walk will be held at Williams Nature Center (54988 MN-68, Mankato, MN 56001). Rain date is set for June 19. We will contact you by text and email if cancelled due to weather. Classes are taught by Herbalist and Integrative Nutritionist, Kara Swenson of Thistle Patch Wellness.
  • Polymer Clay Workshop

    This course is an open polymer clay workshop, where participants make whatever they feel inspired to create. The class consists of students creating one or more pieces of polymer clay art, which are baked in class. After the pieces cool, students will be able to glaze them (if they want, it's not a necessity, just an aesthetic preference), and we will then affix them to keychains, necklace chains, or just leave them as cute little shelf sculptures.
